It has been a few days since I was given my APP brief, and during that time I have been thinking over my interests and generated some possible ideas with the help of mind maps. Yet I feel that I need to delve deeper in other to create a strong and successful design briefs.
I'm going to aim to produce three briefs as I haven't yet provided a sufficient amount of research for my dissertation, and if I do happen to fall on Option B then at least I already have an extra brief "waiting" for me.
Typography
I haven't done any hand lettering yet but I have a deep interest in them. If I happen to choose to do typography or hand lettering for a brief then I might find it challenging, and yet this will also mean that I could tick off another thing on my personal to-do list.
Here's a mood board of inspirations:

From looking at this mood board I am inspired to mix illustration with typography, and perhaps do something like inspirational quotes on little cards, diaries or even a little coffee cup.
Birthday Card
One of my other ideas was to produce a birthday card but I'm not too sure what target market to aim for. I would like to do something for those in their late twenties and up as I realised that it's quite hard for them to buy cards for others (especially because most cards are all sparkly and pretty). However I just need some inspiration!

Looking for inspiration for birthday cards just confirmed my opinion that it's really, really hard to buy a card for a male older than 10. I think I'd like to create a card for a male because I know from experience that it's so difficult to buy cards (and presents) for them!
Book Spread
I have become interested in doing book spreads ever since on my unusual words project at the end of last year. I am a massive fan of reading up short stories and myths and legends, so might do something like that.
In the meantime... Some inspiration!

After doing this little bit of research I realised that illustrations aren't really displayed in books other than children's books, so if I wanted to a book spread it would probably have to be for a children's book.
Infographic Poster
I'm really interested in Greek mythology, especially when it comes to the gods and goddesses, so I would like to create an infograhic poster on the main gods and goddesses or even possibly a series of postcards. For now I'm just going to look at some inspirational posters.
Image sources: DHNN http://www.behance.net/dhnn; Rendy Mulyana http://www.behance.net/renmul; Jaymie McAmmond http://www.behance.net/jaymie; Ashley Bryant http://www.behance.net/ashleybrookebryant; Dylan Mackay http://www.behance.net/gallery/My-life-Infographic/8411309; Jess Burgess http://www.behance.net/jess121; Katherine Konzal http://www.behance.net/KKonzal; Kelly McCay http://www.behance.net/kellymccay; Joanne Taylor http://www.behance.net/joiaco; Ngonews http://www.infographicsshowcase.com/twitter-users-profile-infographic/
From this mood board I can already tell that the important part of the infographic poster is the way that they had laid out the information, so when I have gathered everything I can about Greek gods and goddesses I have to make sure they're laid out perfectly so that they'll be read easily.
Overall Conclusion:
Out of all of these projects, the ideas of mixing typography & illustration and doing something with infographics are the most promising as the amount of products I could do for either is quite broad. I am also interested in the birthday card, but will have to expand on all of them before picking which ones to do.
